Love Begins With You

God Has Two Hands
By A. Lin. Thomas
“The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.”
(Psalm 138:8, NKJV)
I don't know why God speaks to me during the Sunday morning sermons, but He often does. I was in the middle of listening to my pastor preach the Sunday morning sermon, when I heard God whisper, “God has two hands.”
I thought, what? Then He illustrated that, "He holds us with one hand while He works out His will and our problems with the other hand. He went on to add that while He is holding us, He is not holding us in a hanging position."
You know how some little girls carry their dolls by one arm as they dangle. God said, "He holds us upward toward His face, so that we may be able to see Him face to face. We are not dangling in His hand, we are well supported as He lovingly looks upon us, and we upon Him. With His right hand, He orders our steps, fights our battles and provides His good gifts for us to enjoy."
I never thought about God’s two hands before. It made me aware that I also have two hands, the left to support the right. The right hand is my dominant hand, it’s the hand I use to do everything with—writing, washing, moping, turning the pages as I read, putting on makeup, etc.…
My left hand assists my right hand, by holding and grasping. It really doesn’t have any other strength of its own, but its strength is to support the right hand. Then I understood what God was telling me, we are well supported by His one hand while the other hand works all things together for our good.
The real value of this lesson is that we are supposed to keep our eyes stayed on Him, not on our problems, or our needs. Psalm 16:8 (NIV) reads, “I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Exodus 15:6 (NIV) states, “Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy." Amen!
Prayer:
Father, please forgive me for looking more at my circumstances rather than at You. You are the Author and the Finisher of my faith. I have come to the understanding that You will perfect that which concerns me. “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 (NIV). In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
