A New Year-Moving Forward

By A. Lin. Thomas

It’s almost 2021. Wow! Where did the year go? If your year was like mine, it’s a complete blur! There were ups and downs, but most of it went so fast, I can barely remember it. That’s probably a good thing. But it’s now time to plan forward. With everything going on in life, sometimes it’s hard to see forward. However; looking backward is not an option. There’s nothing there except lessons to be learned, not opportunities or victories to be gained.

To dwell in the past is to lock yourself out of your future. Things happen in life that make us pause for a moment, but we can’t stop. We must “keep it moving’” or we will fail. The Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 3:12-14 (NLT), “I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”

Paul speaks of the things that await him in Christ. That’s a wonderful way to look forward. Has Jesus promised you anything? Do you have a purpose to fulfill? Are there people you need to lead to Christ? Who do you want to bless?

See, you do have a reason to look forward to tomorrow. Let today be the day you plan to live better in the new year. The plans of today become the realities of tomorrow if you persevere and don’t give up. I’m cheering for you! You can do it! Don’t stop now! Give it all you’ve got! God is with you! Regardless of the obstacles: Keep Moving Forward!!!

Prayer:

Father, please help me to see forward despite all of the pain, hurt, and disappointments of this year. Thank You for the good that came out of this year. Help me to appreciate all that You still have in store for me. Help me to forgive those that have attacked me in any way, rejected me in any way, or failed me in any way. Also please, "forgive them for they know not what they do." Help them to become all that You would have them to be. And use us to be vessels of light in this dark world. Prepare us for service and propel us into victory for Your kingdom and Your purpose. “For we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.” In the name of Jesus, amen.
