“But the path of the just is as the shining light,
that shineth more and more unto the perfect day..”
(Proverbs 4:18, KJV)
I was listening to my grandkids interact with one another the other day, and they began to argue. As I got up to investigate what the problem was, I heard my grandson tell his little brother, “Don’t copy me!” And he meant every word he said. It was annoying him that his brother was mimicking him.
After I calmed him down, I explained that his brother copying him was a form of adoration. He was simply using his big brother as a learning tool, and to be close to him because he admired him. Then I reminded my older grandson, that he does the same thing with his older sister. All of her new “catch phrases” are now his new “catch phrases.” He was doing the same thing without realizing it.
It made me think if I would want anyone copying me? Is my behavior worth imitating? That’s worth thinking about, huh? I think so. Most of the time we just go about our daily lives, and sometimes we are unaware that we are a light in this dark world. Everything we say, do, and give, and what we don’t say, do and give is a reflection of our righteousness in Christ Jesus.
I’m gonna be honest, I don’t always feel like I’m a light. Sometimes, I feel like I’m groping in the darkness trying to find my way. But even in the dark seasons of life, my light can still shine brighter and brighter to light the way for someone else. I don’t how God is able to pull service out of us when we are going through our own situations, but somehow, He does.
It truly is perplexing, but so very joyful to know that my light is becoming even brighter as I go through every test and trial. My strength and growth will help someone else get through their trial. So just know, while you wait on your breakthrough, you can still be an answer to someone else for their breakthrough. Now or later! Either way, you are still a beacon of light!
Prayer:
Father, thank You, that every weakness is a place to grow strength. Every trial is a place to learn patience. Every hurt is a place to understand how to heal, and every day is a place to share all of these gifts to help someone else. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, amen!
