Beginning Anew:
The Real Treasure

“Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”
(Isaiah, 40:28-31, NIV)
Sometimes in this life you are walking along your journey and then, bam! Something happens that throws your entire life into shambles. You don't really understand what hit you, but you definitely know something did. You look around trying to gather your composure and the remnants of your shattered life. The crumbs that are left are not sufficient enough to salvage your old lifestyle, so now you have to start all over. But how?
Through humility. I know it seems counterproductive to posture yourself low when you are already at your lowest. But humility is the essential trait for establishing your ability to receive help. At the lowest place of your life, shame will try to establish itself as a foothold to keep you down. It will not let you seek advice, wisdom, counsel or even truth. It will only enable you to feel pity and condemnation, which will cause you to turn inward in self-pity, not outward to seek after truth to help you get up. First Peter 5:6-7 (NIV), encourages, “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
Often times, the lowest place in your life is the place where God wants to shine His light. But if you are not willing to ask for His assistance, He can't come into your dark circumstances. Remember, God is a gentleman, and He won’t ever force his way into your life, He will simply remind you that you need Him and that He is always available. Your circumstances will also remind you that you need Him. And sometimes those circumstance speak very loudly, but not in your favor.
Being humbly is not being weak. Rather it is being the strongest spiritually, when you are at your weakest physically. In humility, you realize that you have no answers to solve the problems that you, or someone else have caused that so negatively impacted your life, to the point that you can't pick yourself up. So, you seek help. First, from God, in praise, prayer, and repentance. Secondly, from others that He will send to lend a helping hand. And lastly, from yourself, through self-reflection that God will initiate to rebuild you from the inside out.
Warning!!! Do not attempt to repair yourself or even your broken circumstances. You don't have the skill set or the capacity to do it righteously. Let God lead, guide and direct you. He already had a plan for this calamity, before you were even born. And He already has the blueprints to re-establish you His way.
The world system is a façade create by the devil. It looks the part of success, but lacks the power to be the part, its only purpose is to lure man away from God to destruction. God desires to put an end to the lie you have been living, and He will re-establish you in His way, which involves His truth and His life. Don't be victimized, either, even though the devil will use other people to bring forth his calamity in your life. You cannot stop the initial attack, but you can stop receiving his attacks with a counterattack in the Word of God! John 16:33 (NIV) reminds, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” That’s in red, so that’s Jesus declaring His strength to you.
The way to overcome any attack is through prayer, and the Word of God. Get on your knees and present your situation to God, then leave it there. Afterward, get your Bible out and dig in to find every scripture that pertains to your situation or your need, after you find the scriptures you need, confess those scriptures aloud.
When you feel so overwhelmed that you think you won’t make it through, praise God, declaring that in His promises, He will see you through. Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV) reminds, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jesus himself left His words of comfort as He was preparing to depart this world and return to Heaven, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV).
