Sowing Into Good Soil

It was that time again: back to school! With everything going on with my family, the kids, the job, the dog, my mother, and my ministry, everything felt so overwhelming. “I can’t do this anymore, Lord!” I screamed as I made my way to my bedroom. After my meltdown, I just sat quietly contemplating how I was going to redeem myself. Then I took a deep breath and decompressed. I don’t know who invented deep breaths, but they sure do work. They give you just enough time to come to your senses.

Afterward, God spoke to me to let me know everything was going to be alright, and I just needed to rest. After I came to my senses, I looked at my family, realizing that my work here was not in vain. We’ve come so far, and God will take us the rest of the way; we just need to hold on.

I also came to understand that I should not “grow weary in well-doing” because I’m sowing into good soil. Even though I get tired, even though I get frustrated, even though I can’t always figure out what to do next; I still know that my family and my ministry is worth it!

Just a friendly caregiver/minister reminder: it’s going to be alright! God’s got this! And we just need to hold on to our unchanging faith in him! But in the meantime, take a deeeeeeeeeep breath and let it all out. Then, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."   1 Peter 5:6-7 (New International Version).

Galatians 6: 1-10 (New Living Translation) states: “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important. Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct. Those who are taught the word of God should provide for their teachers, sharing all good things with them. Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith,” Galatians 6:1-10 (NLT).

Prayer:

Father, I can’t say thank you enough for refreshing me when I need it the most. And for entrusting me with the care of those most precious to you, the children. Help me lean on you more, so I can be someone others can lean on for support. Make me strong in your love, then help me share the strength of your love and your word. In this, we shall all be emotionally well cared for and provided for. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
